industrial steel grating steel grating clips bar grating saddle clips
Steel Grating is an essential structural component of many builds, particularly in commercial and industrial spaces. Steel Grating is specifically designed for high impact, high load applications, such as in walkways, stairs, platforms, and mezzanines.
A popular method of attaching grating to structures involves formed metal pieces, variously called saddle clips, butterfly clips, and M-Clips, placed onto the grating top surface and attached with a suitable screw, bolt, or pin to the structure. All of our saddle clips are designed for use with a 0.25” diameter fastener.
Saddle Clips offered by our company include the following units:
1: The most common saddle clip, this clip is used to fasten 19-space grating to structures. It has an oval-shaped hole, which will accommodate either a screw or a carriage bolt.
2: This is the stainless version of the clips series. It is resistant to corrosion in most environments, due to its 316SS stainless steel material.
INSTALLATION GUIDE
If needed, drill pilot holes into the structural steel at each planned attachment point.
It is also recommended that grating installers use 1 grating clip on every corner of the grating plus at least 1 grating clip on each intermediate steel support. In our experience, 1 grating clip for every 4 sqft of grating is best for walkway conditions.
In cases of high-vibration or heavy loads, using 1 grating clip for every 2.5 sqft of grating may be needed.
